Gross-to-Net

Gross-to-Net is the difference between a pharmaceutical product’s gross sales at list price and the net revenue the manufacturer actually recognizes after rebates, chargebacks, discounts, fees, returns and government program obligations.

Why it matters

In the Patients + Profitability™ view, Gross-to-Net is not an accounting output. It is the financial echo of how well the enterprise executed the patient journey: every contracting, channel, affordability and support decision made upstream shows up in it downstream. Finance should own the number, but the operating model that produces it belongs to a cross-functional forum, because the number cannot be fixed inside finance alone.
